About the Club

Our story

We built Clean Travel Club to save ourselves from doing the same research every time we travel:

What restaurants are seed-oil free?

Where can we get grass-fed meat and wild-caught fish?

Which coffee shops have organic coffees and milks?

Where's the best sauna and cold plunge?

Which hotels will clean the room with non-toxic cleaning products?

Yes, we're a little crazy about our health. But so are a lot of our friends.

We all started to share our recommendations and favorite spots. And then we realized that this data deserved to be something the whole world could see.

Plus, by putting it on a website, we can let you filter by whatever criteria you want. And once we started surveying our friends, we realized that people wanted a *lot* of different filters. (Let us know if you want even more!)

So we started the Club.

We hope you find it useful. Email us anytime with feedback, thoughts, or ideas — we read every message.

Let's make travel healthy again.

Club Score

Every place on Clean Travel Club gets a score between 1-10. Right now, this score is usually based on a combination of two things: the place's health attributes, and their rating on Google.

The health attributes are those items we let you filter by. For restaurants, it might be whether they are organic, if they have glass bottled water, and more. For hotels, it's whether they have blackout curtains, openable windows, non-toxic cleaning, and all that.

We give each of those attributes a weighting of how important it is. Then, if the place has it, it improves their score. If they don't, it makes their score worse.

We combine those weightings with the Google rating for the place, and you get a score.

Over time, we expect to add community reviews and ratings, and those will of course play a big role in the scores.

Club AI and our curation

We want to add lots of places to the Club — and to speed up that process, we've enlisted the help of some new AI technology.

On certain places, you'll see a "Rated by Club AI" badge. This means that we've sent our AI agents to go and collect information about the place — so the information you see has been input by them, not by us humans.

Over time, we'll manually review every single one of these and make sure they are right. But in the meantime, the AI lets us cover a whole lot more places.

If you see something wrong, don't hesitate to let us know and we'll get it fixed!

More generally, Clean Travel Club is meant to be a curated place to find the healthiest spots. We don't intend to have every single restaurant or coffee shop on here. And that's okay! When you're looking for the healthiest spots, you don't need to see every option.

Enjoy being in the Club! And send us feedback anytime.
